as the name implies...the cavaliers have appeared in my life...last week, on thursday, if i remember, a percussion instructor by the name of Mr. Pan, Pan Huei-Yuen, if i'm not mistaken, came by our school to teach us...it was all fun and laughter...really great fun as well as learning at the same time. taught us alot of things...how to hold our sticks, how to grip it, how to use them at our advantage..."Wrist is good!!" the phrase sounded through the bandroom...haha...funny guy, actually. I checked him out at the DCI Cavaliers webby just now, seems he's a snare drummer in the front ensemble (whatever that is). I expected to see his name in the snareline. maybe he was? I also learned that Cavalier members have to re-audition every year (or season) to give other people in the country a chance. It's also to check their performance...seems it isn't all that easy to get into the Corps. Another thing i missed...he shook amirrul, syafiq and Zack's hands...BUT I DIDNT GET A CHANCE!!! boohoo...i bet zack bathed with a shower cap on his hand that night...haha! he was just so delirious about the fact that he was a Cavalier...
And so the day ended...learned so much, spoke so little, BACKACHE!! had to rush home for my piano lesson...late by 5mins...and my fingers were so rusty despite the 3 hours of practicing on the drums at school...guess piano and percussion aren't all that interrelated. I used to think that way though...didn't help much.
Haiz...started another acc. on maple...stupid magician...the thief was too difficult to train...i play until sian. juz sold a red triangular shield to jasman for 40k, which is WAY BELOW THE MARKET PRICE...i can't believe i actually did that...i could've got it off me for 100+k...i hate myself...=)
Really have to start stepping up in the percussion section...wanna bring them up to the true drumline standard (for those in the line, and shall not be named)...and the rest, up to the best percussion standard ever set in Titans history. (well, the Titans actually started in 2004, so this wouldn't be some kind of hallmark...just a stepping stone of more to come). Nothing personal, but i think everyone would want their section to be the best, not just in the band, but in the whole of singapore. we're already in the Top 4, but they're not living up to their supposedly gleaming reputation. And by next year we have to bring them all the way up to the top and hold that position for as long as the band shall live...easier said than done. The Line shall prevail and rule, singapore shall honor the percussion section of the Titans band, that is my goal...and the goal of everyone who works alongside me (i hope).
Seems as though i'm going to live up to my personal promise of achieving an A1 for E-maths...been doing QUITE well in it, actually i juz scored a little over 75 for mock exam P1. P2 is coming tomorrow, and i haven't prepared one bit. just gotta touch up on the transformations chapter...i hate shear and stretch...can't really differentiate between the two...SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!! =X
Tomorrow marks the start of the last week before the september holidays and the much anticipated prelims exams...lasting 3 weeks with four days of holiday for us. (once a week)...gotta start studying for my combined humans...dun blame me for hating the subject..i just do! i hate studying that. The rest of the subjects are quite ok i guess...dunno whether i can attain my prelim goal with only this much preparation and practice...haiz.
Once again, my strokes are failing me...and if i don't want to embarrass myself in front of my juniors on the field this year and the next, I'd better start practicing regularly to keep my joints oiled and ready. Being rusty during a practice or performance can spell disaster for a percussionist...and just because i've stopped (BARELY) for my exams doesn't mean i can stop practicing forever...need to keep the standard up...IMPERATIVE!
wow...typed quite a lot. sorry for tiring your eyes out...too bad. =) see ya...
